Whenever we have visitors from the USA, about once a year, Little Bay Beach is always on our "must see list". Usually yanks comment on the contrast between the natural beauty of the setting and the, uncharacteristic for Sydney, massive contrast between that natural beauty and the unsightly heap of builder's waste. So, its good that Randwick Council and Landcom are considering doing something about removing the bricks.

In the meantime, landscapers take note: Many years of wave action has rounded the "pointy edges" off lots of the bricks. This makes them extremely useful as components for garden footpaths and small retaining walls. What's more, they are free for the taking.

We visited Little Bay yesterday with my two children and mother and have been coming here with my family for some 30years.

I remember the brick/cement bridge which we used to dive off which is now underwater and walking through from Bilga Crescent and walking over past the south end to the next inlet.

I spoke with some people on the beach yesterday and we were discussing the bricks.

I have read a few aritcles in the Southern Courier regarding them.

My questions are:

What were the bricks used for before they were dumped?

Are the bricks there to stop erosion from the water coming from the cliff?

Are they heritage bricks?

I think its a great idea to get them cleaned up as well as the glass which is lying around and also the metal pipes which are sticking out of the rocks and sand.

At least someone has found a use for them.
